The Morning After: Apple's rumored smart display may arrive next year
Remember those rumors of an Apple smart display suspended on a robot arm? According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is planning to debut the first device as soon as 2025, alongside a new operating system called homeOS. It could be a device with a robotic arm or a simpler HomePod-with-screen affair. Gurman elaborated on this, claiming two versions are in the works: a low-end display for the basics, like FaceTime and smart home controls, and a high-end robotic variant that'll cost upwards of 1,000. According to the report, Apple Intelligence will be a key part of the experience for both devices.

LG infuses AI deep learning in its latest OLED TVs for better picture quality
LG Electronics unveiled its 2023 TV lineup with a range of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) TVs that use AI processing. They come with self-lit picture quality, powerful image processing technologies, and an enhanced webOS platform offering even more smart features and services. The company made the announcement ahead of the CES 2023 tech trade show in Las Vegas. While the AI is common in TVs now, it reflects a trend where everyday products are infused with AI deep learning that changes every year and continuously improves the products. LG is pitching the TVs to gamers, as LG's self-lit OLED TVs boast a 0.1 millisecond response time, low input lag and up to four HDMI 2.1a compliant ports.
Best Smart TV for 2022
There's a good chance you get most of your shows and movies from popular streaming services like Netflix, Disney Plus and HBO Max. Which means you'll need some kind of smart TV platform to access all your favorite apps. Fortunately, just about every new TV you come across today features a Wi-Fi-enabled operating system for easy access to tons of different streaming services right out of the box. In our TV reviews we consider that smart TV system, sure, but picture quality for the money is more important. That's because you can always "replace" the TV's built-in system with a good streaming device, most of which cost less than $50.

TCL Roku TV vs Insignia Fire TV: Which is best?
If you've got a limited budget or you're hunting for a small TV for the bedroom or office, you might head over to Amazon and check out the best 32-inch TVs on offer. There you'll undoubtedly run into two extremely popular models: the TCL 3-Series and the Insignia F20 Fire TV. These TVs have been top sellers for years, with the Amazon reviews to prove it, but are either of them worth your money? That's the mystery we're here to solve. We've conducted in-depth evaluations of both TVs, backed by comprehensive lab testing.
This TV is great for Alexa fans, not film buffs
The F20 series generally delivers decent overall picture quality, but with some small discrepancies that we didn't see from the competition in our tests. The TV's overall color production is lacking, and its tendency to overemphasize blue hues can create imbalances during low-light and highlight scenes. On the other hand, the TV's build quality and Fire TV experience are quite robust. If you're a big fan of telling Alexa what to do or vastly prefer Amazon's Fire TV platform over something like Roku TV, you may not mind these concessions in picture quality. But if you want the best picture quality in this price range (so far), alongside one of our favorite smart platforms, you should really check out the TCL 3-Series instead.

This Roku TV is a great way to jump into 4K for less
Starting at just $349 for the 43-inch model, the 4-Series is as affordable as it is flexible: This series runs the screen size gamut from 43 to 85 inches and even comes in software variants, with Roku (the version we tested), Google, and Android smart platforms available depending upon retailer and region. But no matter which one you buy, you're getting 4K resolution, HDR compatibility, and solid general picture quality. There are some reasons you might want to spend a bit more. This is an entry-level 4K TV, and despite being HDR compatible, it's simply not bright or colorful enough for good HDR performance. The basics of its picture are solid, but it's not equipped to be a great choice for current game consoles, and its backlight isn't powerful enough for especially bright rooms.

Panasonic's latest OLED TV offers gaming upgrades and AI tuning
How does Panasonic stand out in a crowded TV market? The electronics giant has unveiled its 2021 flagship OLED TV, the JZ2000, and its centerpiece is an HCX Pro AI Processor that not only improves picture quality (more on that in a moment), but delivers a big boost to gaming performance. The 4K set promises some of the "very lowest" latency you'll find in an OLED TV, Panasonic says, and that's reportedly due to the company's customization rather than the panel alone. A new Game Mode Extreme setting will cut lag, optimize the picture and support HDMI 2.1's variable refresh rate and high refresh rate options. It might be ideal for a living room PC, too, thanks to HDMI Signal Power Link support that helps computers and old set-top boxes talk to CEC-equipped devices.
